It would appear the Mentality in Torrance County is that of Ferry County in Washington State. I am still amazed that they think cattle are more important than our Environment. After all Ranchers showed up much later than our wildlife.

The Torrance County Commission approved a resolution at its regular meeting on Oct. 12 opposing the reintroduction of the Mexican gray wolf in the county.

There are no plans to place any wolves in the county, but the Commission chose to respond to an audit from the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Inspector General’s Office of the Mexican Gray Wolf Recovery Program. The audit was released on June 29 that “raises significant questions about scientific integrity, transparency, personnel management, public outreach and the public trust in regards to the MGWRP,” the resolution states.

“Torrance County is opposed to reintroducing the Mexican Gray Wolf to the area because of the devastation against our industries: cattle — we probably have three or four more times more cattle than we do residents. If a rancher loses three or four head of cattle, that might be their profit for the year,” Commission Chairman LeRoy Candelaria said. “The Mexican Gray Wolf was — is — a part of the world we live in but we don’t want it in our backyard.”
