This report is 1 day after Lance Shoemaker had blamed it on wolves, using the most ridiculous reasons….

The female border collie mortally injured  2-1/2 miles east of Union on Saturday was not attacked by wolves, according to the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.

ODFW biologists Leonard Erickson and Hans Hayden made this conclusion following an investigation of the attack, which was reported in Wednesday’s edition of The Observer.

The border collie was attacked Saturday. Erickson and Hayden concluded that the 7-year-old canine was most likely attacked by at least one coyote or a coyote-sized dog. The biologists made this determination based on nature of the dog’s wounds and the fact that there is no evidence of wolves recently being in the area.

The border collie, named Ruby and owned by the Lance and Stephanie Shoemaker family of Union, died Monday.
