It is time to let this Rancher know you are opposing this Derby. Call Them, but do so respectfully please! They are giving away prizes that can be used to Hunt at night which is illegal in most states.

Those wishing to participate in a Feb. 1-2 coyote and wolf derby may call Flying B Ranch, 208-935-0755, to sign-up Jan. 21-Feb. 1. According to an event flyer provided to the Free Press by Brad Schaff of Kamiah, half of proceeds will go to local cancer patients and half of proceeds will go to prize money. Prizes also include a Nightforce scope for the biggest wolf and a spotlight by Lightforce Performance Lighting for the biggest coyote. Fee is $150 per three-person team, and scoring will be by a local taxidermist, according to the flyer. Hunting and trespassing laws apply.

  1. Really disgusting to see The Flying B Ranch would sink so low to use coyotes and wolves as a come on to help cancer patients and provide illegal hunting gear to hunters with no respect for wildlife.
Is the cancer centre aware you use this massacre of wildlife to make yourself a hero? I think not and I hardly think that cancer patients who value life would appreciate it either.
Handing out illegal hunting gear and creating a killing contest really makes you look small and I’m so not impressed .
Why not something respectable instead of the destruction of wildlife? Something the Cancer Society would be proud of.

  2. I am a 2 time cancer survivor and find this derby to be a really bad idea. There are many more ways to help than use hatred to gain money. Also I am suspicious that this rancher is using everyday people to do the killing/slaughter for them.

  3. I agree with both comments from Debbie Fisher and Twowolves. Absolutely disgusting. Why don’t we let Peta and the Humane Society know too while we’re at it, I’m sure like would like to be aware of this BEFORE the wild animal slaughter for Cancer.

  4. As a cancer survivor I can tell you that we value all life, and this is revolting and despicable. May karma visit you in her full glory for killing her creatures.

  5. Please don’t do this, all life is precious. There is other ways, rise above all this, be the better man. You will be remembered and held in high regard. Life is difficult for all, please let them have their life in peace. That’s how you want to live too? Isn’t it.

  6. How about taking aggressive actions against them, such as deploying drones to break up their flights? Or equip the drones with lazers to spoil their aim? An eye for an eye, so to speak.

    1. That would be illegal. You can not disrupt a person’s legal hunt. Idaho Diana md game will ticket you and fine you.

  7. Wow. How incredibly shameful. You have to have a pretty small mind and be a pretty unethical hunter to participate in something like this.

  8. Why do humans want to kill innocent beautiful creatures. This is so heartbreaking and disgusting. The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way it’s animals are treated (Ghandi)

  9. These killing contests are actually allowed all over the US. Most Americans have no idea that they are taking place. There needs to be a campaign on radio, television, newspapers, as well as social media. We need to let everyone know that native wildlife has a target on its back.
Contact your representatives and let them know this will not stand!

  10. Please Please Please STOP KILLING OUR WOLVES AND COYOTES !!! So many people LOVE THESE ANIMALS INCLUDING OUR CHILDREN !!!

  11. So spotlights cant be used for anything other than illegal hunting now? We use spotlights at camp and at home as well.

  12. It’s a hunting ranch! Not a farm. They’re not doing it illegally. Everyone who was to be involved had to follow all legal rules as laid out by Idaho fish and game.

  13. I am wondering if anyone has called or emailed them yet and let them know about our disgust and opposition to such horrendousness? I am about to now…
