Kinessa Johnson, a former Army soldier turned African ‘poacher hunter,’ has become an internet sensation as the face of a conservation group. But one former SEAL and counter-poacher operator is having none of it.
U.S. Army veteran Kinessa Johnson rose to internet fame two weeks ago following an online chat with Reddit.
In the conversation, Johnson describes her career as a “poacher hunter” forVETPAW (Veterans Empowered to Protect African Wildlife), an organization that protects endangered African animals by employing military veterans.
The ad campaign, which embraces the feel-good topics of veteran employment, wildlife preservation, and female empowerment, was hugely successful.
Profiles of Johnson, who joined VETPAW in November after a four-year Army stint, posing with assault weapons appeared in publications across the world, including the Daily Mail in the UK and the New York Daily News.
