Pets, wildlife, endangered species, even humans are victims of trapping on public lands

In Protect The Wolves by Lynda1 Comment

4 million animals are trapped every year and our Government does not give exact numbers. So no one knows precisely how many dogs and cats are caught in traps every year. There is no real incentive for trappers to report non-target catches, especially if they are companion animals, or endangered animals (which could result in penalization)

They are indiscriminate and barbaric, so let’s work together to put an end to this in our country. Many other countries have banned them and it’s high time the U.S steps out of the dark ages!

The Sportsmen’s Act S.733 is back and could make the number of animals trapped even higher. The bill would open all U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management lands to hunting unless officials decided to close them off – currently, these lands are closed unless officials can prove that hunting is compatible with other uses of the land. But the bigger danger is that—quietly tucked into the bill, hunting is defined to include trapping. “If you don’t look at the definition … you would not know that it involves trapping, “A lot of people on Capitol Hill had no idea.”

It’s important to know that this Bill and many others that harm and delist endangered species are backed by “powerful” interest groups, such as the National Rifle Association and the Safari Club International and others. There is a very long list of toxic Bills and Riders that attack our wildlife and could pass if we don’t get Congress to oppose them. Write, email and get them to oppose. We also have a post to include you with a list of other people asking Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer and Senator Cory Booker to be a powerful voice in opposition to the war on wildlife. Let’ also be sure we are united as one powerful voice as members of Protect the Wolves so we can fight for wolves and wildlife in court! ~L.G
