Cattle, Destroy our ecosystems that are necessary for our wildlife to survive!

A bill passed in February by the U.S. House of Representatives probably Ruined your day, as it did mine! Almost as bad as Ranchers have ruine our environment If you think there has been more than enough killing of our wildlife over our history,  this measure is cause for alarm!

Not only for wolves but it will destroy all of our wilderness as well! It will allow the rich to continue to get richer! Yes I am an Old Logger, Native American, Hunter, now turned Advocate in the battle to keep our Wilderness lands just as they are!!

What will happen if we continue to let these money hungry politicians to continue down the path they are currently On? They will eek every bit of money out of our Public lands, and Natural resources that they can. Whats worse is there are some politicians that want to turn our Federal Lands over to States…. which in My Minds eye have already exhibited enough proof that they have no Business managing either wildlife or their states resources.

We have the responsibility of restoring and preserving all endangered species, such as the gray wolf. Some 2 million of them once lived on this continent, as Once stated on a Once Great Conservation Organization called Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation! At least that was before they turned into a special interest Lobby group totally the Opposite of what they were design and founded for! However only a few thousand remain, and individual States are trying to Take even those numbers from their ecosystem.. The bill would exposes Our iconic beast to hunting and trapping in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan and Wyoming — with predictable consequences. They as in the past will not stop until they have been totally eliminated. Wolves, are and always will be a Keystone species which when healthy they help other species to remain healthy! The Problem lies with Ranchers, State Farm Bureaus for 1 that find it easier to Cry Wolf rather than focus on a larger problem that being 2 legged predators. I for 1 wouldn’t mind installing surveillance cameras that would help them to Eliminate this problem. Wolves in the entire scheme of things are the smallest percentage of loss period when it comes to Cattle!! Which by the way has been proven as the number 1 cause of destroying our environment. The majority of the American public does not know that livestock grazing in the West has caused more damage to Our Environment  than the chainsaw and bulldozer combined!

Do you think Ranchers are Good Stewards of the land? In order to be called a good steward, ideally one not only must have a heightened sense of responsibility but also a heightened concern for the land as some ranchers do, however they also must treat our public and private land in a way that conserves its fertility, productivity, diversity, diversity in the wildlife that occupies it as well as it’s beauty for our future generations to enjoy, just as we have!. In order to get this under control in a more timely fashion, it is imperative that our federal lands are shut off from these Ranchers grazing their cattle on.

Ranchers are by raising domestic animals that demand large quantities of water and forage in a place that is dry, and by being slow moving, heavy, and relatively defenseless, livestock that are in terrain that is rugged, vast, and inhabited by native predators, ranchers have put themselves, and their Cattle in a position of constant warfare with the land. They funnel most of the grass into their own animals, at the expense of our Wildlife. They divert water from rivers to grow hay and other crops to feed cows, leaving fish and other aquatic life with hot, shallow trickles, which is not conducive for fish to be able to spawn. They allow their cattle to graze and trample riparian habitat on which 75 to 80 percent of all wildlife species in the West depend! Then by polluting waterways with manure and adding excessive sediments to the water as they destroy the land.

Although “beauty is in the eye of the beholder,” it’s arguable whether most people would prefer a place where the grass is chewed down to stubs and the ground is littered with cow pies, over a grassland of tall and waving stems, dotted with wildflowers, and abundant Wildlife to View. In order to get this destruction to stop, we need to get limits placed on Cattle Ranchers, that will prevent them from owning more cattle than their own land can adequately support as well as shut off out federal lands to their invasive and destructive Cattle. In so doing we will be able to replenish grasses, shrubs, waterways, that are vital to the health not only to our wildlife, but our entire environment will benefit!!
