Yep a Rancher saw wolves in the area 3 weeks before the llama was killed…. Of course they said wolves did it…  Oregon is really getting out of hand!!

ENTERPRISE OREGON — Members of the Shamrock wolf pack killed a llama near the Washington border earlyMonday morning.

A report released by Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife said a cattle rancher in northern Wallowa County found a dead llama early Monday morning that appeared to have been killed by a predator.

According to Todd Nash, Oregon Cattlemen’s Association wolf committee chairman, the rancher said he saw four wolves north of his house about three weeks before the llama was killed.

“He’s seen wolves around there the last two or three years,” Nash said.

GPS collar data indicated the Shamrock pack wolf member was on the ranch six days ago.

Nash said the rancher has had llamas for a number of years to keep coyotes and dogs away from his calves.

The report said the bite marks in the hide were similar to other wolf depredations and fresh wolf tracks were observed approximately 200 yards away in the same pasture of the carcass, as well as a wolf track approximately 10 yards from the carcass.

The Wallowa County Sheriff’s Office and a ODFW biologist from the Enterprise office investigated the dead llama and determined it was killed by wolves.
