Martorello refuses to answer questions regarding Our Offer to donate Quads for the Range Rider Program….. If they only extend this Range Rider program to Conservation Northwest and not To Protect The Wolves™ or Hank Seipp with Western Wildlife Conservation….  We will have to assume that its nothing more than a bribe as explained to us by a BIA Biologist (Bureau of Indian Affairs), according to the BIA they have to extend this program to all that request to get involved. Martorello has also refused to Grant the BIA a Meeting now for over a year according to the Biologist that has reached out to us from there.

To Hell with this guy…..Martorello said, citing concerns for public safety. “We need to keep the temperature down.” LETS TURN it up some!!!

Once again, the state has killed a wolf to protect livestock, this time a wolf in the Smackout Pack.

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife will continue its so-called “lethal removal” of wolves in the pack this coming week, with the goal of deterring the pack from killing and injuring cattle. There is at this time no goal to remove the whole pack, or any set number of wolves.

The department would provide no other details about the kill, including the age or gender of the animal, a state-endangered species, or how, when, or where it was killed.

The only new information provided by WDFW on the kill in its prescribed written weekly update — its only communication with the public — was: “the department removed one wolf.”

The department will be providing no more information until a final report at an unspecified time, said Donny Martorello, wolf-policy lead for the department.

“This is a stressful time, those kinds of details create a lot of anxiety and we are trying to create a level of calmness,” Martorello said, citing concerns for public safety. “We need to keep the temperature down.”

  1. Although this comment is not directly in reference to Washington’s lethal treatment of wolves, I’ve recently gotten news of Oregon’s Wallowa area ( SE of Walla Walla, WA), the Harl Butte pack has just had a third confirmed predatory event of the spring/summer.
These have occurred on the PUBLIC Lands of Wallowa-Whitman National Forest.
The area is one in which all the lowland /riparian area contains privately “owned” corridors of ranchers. The terrain is really inappropriate for ranching, as these narrow threads are surrounded with steep higher public wildlands.

People may be unaware that the Federal government CAN repurchase lands, or trade them. This are is clearly an excellent candidate for repurchase of the fenced off rich river bottoms. Even states can do this, but expect instead that OR will soon order a kill of one or all of the Harl Butte Pack instead of removing the obvious problematic ranching.
