Isle Royal Wolves need action

A healthy wolf population supports healthy wildlife habitat. In the case of wolves, they are vital to the delicate balance of the forest ecosystem because they influence the feeding behavior of deer and elk. Doing so allows vegetation to grow in the forests and along streams, which in turn supports fish, birds and other animals. Wolves are vital to save the ecosystem.

It’s easy for a vocal minority to say, “Let’s just get rid of wolves.” But it’s not a smart, nor a longterm approach to take, especially considering so many nonlethal wolf management options exist.

It’s time we recognize a greater sense of belonging that we are a part of; it’s time to recognize that so-called “predators” are not a nuisance. They’re a critical cog to the Minnesota ecosystem that we have enjoyed for generations; and it’s time we strike a balance that supports the ecosystem and supports farmers in a way that allows us all to co-exist.

Wolves support healthy wildlife.
