A hunter shot the collared wolf in southwestern Utah, mistaking the animal for a coyote.
Conservation groups say the wolf was probably the same one that was spotted last month near the Grand Canyon. The Utah division of Wildlife Resources, a federal agency, hasn’t confirmed the wolf’s identity but is conducting an investigation.
