Wolf advocates in this enlightened age are waging a campaign against the Old Wild West mentality that the only good wolf is a dead wolf. Superstitions, myths and fairy tales that falsely vilify wolves are being dispelled through education. Hunters, ranchers and politicians are beginning to understand the role and need for this predator in maintaining healthy ecosystems, and that it is, indeed, possible to coexist with these amazing animals.
Wolves are one of the few species that possess so many of the traits we admire. They are highly intelligent and intensely social animals; they show compassion for one another; they care for and nurture their sick and injured; they grieve when one of their own dies or is killed; they love to play; and above all, they are lovingly devoted to their family — the pack.
