Wolf Population Declining In Yellowstone National Park

In Oppose Welfare Ranching, Protect The Wolves, Sacred Resource Protection Zone by Twowolves1 Comment

It is not Rocket science people! They are just now beginning to write about this? We have been stating this for years, along with the daily and yearly total slaughter as well as the reasons why our National Parks need our Proposed “Sacred Resource Protection Zone”. If The Large NGOS refuse or fail to join Us as one Voice, Yellowstone Wolves will become a Memory if the Old West Mentality is allowed to continue on her borders. Our Research, Tools, and path are one that those large NGOs can not use simply because they are not Native American. Join Us Today to make our “SRPZ” a Reality before its too late!

Wolves have it hard enough to survive the diseases carried over and put upon them by the  settlers let alone being targeted in scopes surrounding Our National Parks. It would appear they are blaming the species itself, when in fact the only thing that has changed are the new ruthless slaughter being allowed to take place on her borders.

POWELL, Wyo. (AP) — Officials say Yellowstone National Park’s gray wolf population has dropped to about 80 wolves — less than half of the highest population mark in the park.

The Powell Tribune reported on Thursday that while park officials won’t have an accurate count until the fall after surviving pups are visible, the park’s top biologist, Doug Smith, doesn’t expect the numbers to rise dramatically after litters are included in population estimates.

He says the survival rate of gray wolf pups is only about 7 percent, and that Yellowstone had as many as 174 wolves in the park in 2003.

Smith largely blames outbreaks of disease — including distemper, mange and the parvo virus — and packs moving out of the park for the decline.

According to Smith, the leading cause of natural mortality is wolves killing wolves.

  1. Yellowstone NP needs a buffer zone around the park!! This would help protect wildlife in the park from the invisible boundary line!! Also, if it is crossed the Hunters with deadly intensions have them in their crosshairs!! With scientific studies showing how important Wolves are to the ecosystem it is absolutely ridiculous, plus irresponsible to let these practices continue!! The Wolves are NOT TO BLAME, but Ranchers, Politicians, Trappers, Outfitters and Trophy Hunters need to look in a mirror!! They would see the faces of Greed, misconception and misconduct looking back!! Shameful !!
